Welcome to the homepage of the R U Free Yet? Project. The full campaign will begin in January, 2008.
The purpose of the R U Free Yet? campaign is to take a look at the systems preventing people from acheiving the most that they possibly can, the limitations imposed by government, religious and social structures that are oppressing you, me and everybody else.
The goal is to raise awareness about personal freedom in our everyday lives and attaining freedom in the world. We cannot say that we are not being oppressed in our day and age, as much as we would like to; and we cannot say that our brothers and sisters over seas are not being oppressed similarly.
The project is not a statement solely about the true nature of patriotism and the rights afforded to Americans. It is a statement about the fundamental concept of human dignity. My goal is to treat all of the people in these systems, most importantly the people that openly represent them, as people and give them the rights to human dignity that are not, nor can ever be, forfeit.
Instead, I would like to make a clear and concise statement:
All people are people, and I believe in the radical notion that all people have the right to human dignity, respect and the opportunity for success.
This entire project will be based on that fundamental premise and its goal will be to check the people in power and the systems, making sure that they are not stepping over their bounds and dehumanizing or oppressing their fellow human beings.
The topics this project will almost definitely cover include:
Libertarianism and Political, Economic and Social Freedoms
Feminism and Women's Rights at Large
Anti-Theists, Atheists and Freedom of Thought
The United Nations and The Actions of the World Community
The Successes and (more importantly) Failures of the American Two Party System
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Randism and the Rights of the Individual to Work for His or Her Own
Race Relations and the Effects on Everyone
The United States Presidential Election and Its Candidates
The Oppression of Muslims Both in America and in the Middle East
The idea of freedom is an important one, but it seems that no one is really willing to put it out there as an idea and make a clear statement against the groups that are preventing it, whether because they believe it justified. The purpose of the R U Free Yet project is to take a look at the world around us and question its purpose, its practice and its necessity in our world.
